Hot Fudge Sundaes but in COOKIE FORM. These Hot Fudge Sundae Cookies are so fun, festive and delicious. They have a sugar cookie base that is so soft and chewy, then they’re topped with a fresh homemade whipped cream, a rich homemade chocolate ganache and sprinkled with rainbow sprinkles. They’re topped off perfectly with a maraschino cherry. The perfect birthday party cookie recipe!!
These Hot Fudge Sundae Cookies are inspired by my all time favorite Christmas movies: HOME ALONE 1 & 2!! In the first movie, Kevin indulgences himself in a big Hot Fudge Sundae when his family “disappears” and he realizes he is home alone. In the second Home Alone movie, Kevin orders a giant Hot Fudge Sundae as room service, at the Plaza Hotel. So when thinking of a cookie to make inspired by Home Alone, it had to be Ice Cream Sundae Cookies.

These would be so fun for Christmas but they’d also make for the perfect dessert recipe for a birthday party or celebration. They are so fun and scream birthday to me. These would be so fun to do to celebrate “Happy Birthday Jesus” as well.
Although they have a lot of components, they are very easy to make and 100% worth it. The chocolate ganache and the whipped cream are both only 2 ingredients and the sprinkles and cherries add the best finishing touch!!

Christmas is one of my favorite times of year. I love how it challenges people to focus more on their family, giving and taking time to slow down. It’s so cozy and bright and festive and truly brings so much joy.
The Holidays can bring a lot of stress as well so whatever this season looks like for you, it’s important to remember the TRUE reason for the season, Jesus. God sent Jesus down as a baby, becoming fully human while also being fully God, to save this world from sin and be able to be right with God. Salvation in Him is a FREE gift. Nothing we can do will ever be able to earn it. AND No one is ever too far gone to receive it. Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord, will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

What Should I Make These For?
This is the PERFECT cookie recipe for the holiday season. The flavors are festive and are sure to please a crowd. You could make these cookies for Christmas, or anytime throughout the season. They would be a wonderful recipe for a holiday family get together or to make for Santa on Christmas Eve.
Making them with your kids, best friend or lover would be such a fun festive holiday activity!! OR you could even make them for your neighbors, a cookie exchange, essential workers in your community, your church family or school teachers. Cookies always make such a kind and thoughtful gift. They’re also personal and affordable. The holidays are the best time to give homemade gift and spread the spirit of Christmas.

To get my cookies to be super round and all the same shape, I like using a round glass, a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter to the lid of a mason jar!! It’s definitely not required but just a fun little tip, I like to use. I’ll share a link HERE to some on amazon if you’d like to try out this simple yet effective baking hack. (affiliate code)
I love creating a list of all the ingredients you will need to make my recipe on the post before the recipe. That way you can clearly see everything you’ll need and what you may need to go grab at the store to make them.

- cornstarch
- baking soda
- baking powder
- salt
- chocolate chips
- heavy whipping cream
- powdered sugar
- maraschino cherries
- rainbow sprinkles

Let’s Get Started!!

Hot Fudge Sundae Cookies
Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl cream your butter, sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add your vanilla extract, egg, and egg yolk in stir until well combined.
- Add your flour, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Stir until just combined.
- Using a cookie scoop, scoop your cookie dough into 1-2 inch balls and place on your baking sheet lined with parchment paper a few inches apart to prevent from spreading into each other.
- Bake in the oven at 350 F for 8-10 minutes until edges start to brown. Remove from oven, use a round glass or cookie cutter to scoot around the edges of the cookies to make them round and thicker. Let cool.
- To make the whipped cream, add your heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar in a large measuring cup and whip using a milk frother or mixer, until light and fluffy.
- To make your chocolate ganache, heat up your heavy whipping cream in the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Pour over your chocolate chips and let set for 5-10 minutes. Stir until it comes together into a thick chocolate sauce.
- To assemble your cookies, start by adding a dollop of whipped cream on each of your cookies. Spread it out leaving a little bit of the edge bare.
- Next, add your chocolate ganache and spread over the whipped cream. Sprinkle with Rainbow sprinkles and top with a maraschino cherry. Continue with the rest of your cookies.
- Keep refrigerated until ready to enjoy!
- Serve, share & Enjoy!!
