Do you ever want a snack that pleases your sweet tooth but doesn’t have a bunch of sugar and preservatives? Well if the answer to that question is yes, then these protein balls are for you! They are ready is less than 15 minutes and can last in the refrigerator for several days. The ingredients are simple but when mixed together create something so enjoyable.
If you know me, you know I have a MAJOR sweet tooth. Sometimes craving sweets all the time can be frustrating and these protein balls are a great alternative. They taste sweet but aren’t packed with all of those extra sugary add ins like your average granola bar. PLUS you can choose what sweetener you’d like to use or a mixture of your favs. In this recipe, I use pure maple syrup, honey and maple sugar.
What is Maple Sugar? Maple sugar is basically just what it’s called. Sugar that is made from maple. It’s cleaner and has so much flavor. Not to mention, it smells amazing. You can probably find it at a specialty food store or on amazon but if you can’t find it, you can leave it out, add more pure maple syrup or replace it with brown sugar.
Jump to RecipeWhat you’ll need:

- peanut butter
- maple sugar (or brown sugar)
- honey
- pure maple syrup
- protein powder

When should I make these? Honestly, you can make these ANYTIME. You can make them before or after a workout or for a lunch or snack on the go. You can make them at night and chill them for the next morning or anytime you’d like. You can eat them as soon as you make them or wait until you are ready for a little snack. BUT here is your warning… THESE ARE ADDICTIVE.
Peanut Butter Protein Balls

- -1 cup of oats heat treated
- -1/3 cup peanut butter
- -2 tablespoons of maple sugar or brown sugar
- -2 tablespoons honey
- -1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- -1 scoop of protein powder
- -pinch of vanilla I used vanilla bean
Instructions
- In a medium sized bowl, add your peanut butter and oats and heat in the microwave for 1 minute (this kills any bacteria on the oats as well as melts the peanut butter down a bit.)
- Add the rest on your ingredients into your bowl and mix until well combined and is able to form into balls.
- If your dough is too crumbly, add another tablespoon of honey or pure maple syrup.
- Roll into one inch balls and that’s it!
- Share and enjoy and save the rest in the fridge for at least few days!
