Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Energy Bites

January 10, 2023

Sometimes we just want a quick and easy snack that’s healthy but simple. These peanut butter dark chocolate energy bites are just that. If you have a sweet tooth but want something healthier than these are perfect for that as well.

I love to add protein powder when I make energy bites or protein balls cause it helps get your protein in. I typically add 1 scoop of protein powder per batch but you could totally add 2 if you wanted more.

These energy bites are so good!!

What you’ll need:

  • oats
  • peanut butter
  • honey
  • protein powder
  • pure maple syrup
  • vanilla extract
  • chia seed (optional)
  • dark chocolate
  • coconut oil
  • sea salt

I feel like you can never go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter!! It’s one of the most perfect combinations. I love using peanut butter in protein balls and energy bites because its the perfect ingredient to use to bind your mixture together and it adds so much flavor. AND as for adding chocolate, I don’t have an explanation. It’s just meant to be there. 😉

These energy bites can be chilled or frozen and made in advance so that way you can have them ready to go anytime you want them. You can take them for breakfast, school or work lunch, working out or on the go anywhere!

Anyone would love these too. You could make them for your kids, your friends or anyone in your family. This is something the whole family can enjoy and they may ask you to make them over and over again.

Servings 12 energy bites

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups oats (heat treated)
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp protein powder
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds optional
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate melted
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • flaky sea salt

Instructions

  • In a large bowl add your heat treated oats, protein powder, peanut butter, honey, maple syrup, and chia seeds. Stir together until well combined.
  • Scoop with a 1-2 tablespoon cookie scoop onto a piece of parchment paper or a plate. Scoop until all your mixture is gone.
  • In a small bowl add your chocolate and coconut oil and melt until smooth. Be careful not to burn your chocolate and be sure to stir in between.
  • Drizzle your chocolate over your energy bites and top with flaky sea salt.
  • Let chill, serve and enjoy!!

Notes

How do I heat treat oats? Oats can carry bacteria so eating them raw can be unsafe, to heat treat them all you do is heat them in the microwave for about a minute. This will kill any bacteria.
Do I have to use chia seeds. No, you can still make this recipe without chia seeds and it will still be great!!
