Fudgy Crinkle Top Brownies

March 5, 2023

Brownies are one of the best most loved desserts and for good reason. They are chocolatey, gooey, fudgy, rich and delicious. I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who doesn’t like brownies. To be honest, brownies are one of my absolute favorite desserts ever and have been for years.

I’m so glad you found this recipe OR maybe this recipe found you. Either way I am so thankful you are here and that these brownies are in your near future. Like within the next hour, future.

How these BROWNIES came about.

I want to give you a little history of how this brownie recipe came to bout. I started baking when I was 13 and one of the VERY first things I learned to make was, of course, boxed brownie mixes and boxed cake mixes. When I started getting a little more “advanced” of a beginner, I decided to take on HOMEMADE BROWNIES. Cue the applause. HAHAHA. I know right!? So crazy.

The first brownie recipe I tried, was one in a cookbook I actually used a lot as I first started out as a baker. AND once I made them, there was no turning back. My family and I loved them and though we still used a boxed mix every once in awhile, we were definitely hooked. I know i was. They were made with oil and cocoa and honestly, for awhile, were my fav. I made them so many times and sort of adjusted and used it as my own recipe. My family (mainly my sisters) called them “Cassidys famous brownies.”

As I grew as a baker I started to realize that this brownie recipe was lacking a few staple ingredients that could definitely have potential to make them better. Those ingredients being BUTTER, instead of oil, and chocolate. Like actual chocolate, melted. With a few adjustments and a couple times making them to get them down, the new and improved brownie recipe has been born.

I’m so excited for you guys to make and enjoy and LOVE these brownies like I do. AND if you’re wondering how to enjoy them even more, try pairing them warm from the oven with vanilla bean ice cream. Talk about a match made in heaven!! I hope you treat yourself and your loved ones to these! You deserve them. 🙂

What you’ll need:

  • butter
  • sugar
  • eggs
  • chocolate chips
  • vanilla extract
  • cocoa powder
  • flour
  • salt
  • flaky sea salt
  • MORE CHOCOLATE

If you’re looking for the perfect recipe to indulge in, these brownies are for you. They are chocolatey, fudgy, warm, and have the perfect crinkly tops. PLUS, I like to add flaky sea salt to finish them off which give them the perfect bite. Week night, weekend, after dinner dessert, family gathering, movie night, picnic, to make someone smile, to fulfill that late night sweet tooth, or just to indulge… these brownies have your back.

Let’s get STARTED!!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup chocolate chips melted
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chopped
  • flaky sea salt

Instructions

  • Pre-heat your oven to 325° F and line a 9 by 13 inch pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, add your eggs and sugar and whisk until combined and has a foamy consistency.
  • In a separate bowl, add your melted butter and melted chocolate and stir until combined. I usually do this step in a large measuring cup.
  • Slowly pour your chocolate butter mixture into your sugar egg mixture. Stir until combined.
  • Add your vanilla extract and stir again.
  • Add in your flour, cocoa powder and salt and mix until just combined. Batter should be thick.
  • Pour your brownie batter into your baking dish lined with parchment. (Parchment helps remove the brownies from you pan and avoids sticking) Spread it out evenly and top with dark chocolate.
  • Bake in your oven pre-heated to 325° for about 25-30 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and top with flaky sea salt. Let cool.
  • Once your brownies have cooled a little, cut into squares.
  • Remove from pan, serve, share and enjoy!!
