These chocolate s’mores cake donuts are so yum and take only a handful of ingredients to make. If you’re looking for a quick and easy treat to make, you’re in luck. I love to elevate box cake mixes to create delicious treats that you can whip up in no time.
Cake donuts are one of my absolute favorites!! They are so cute and I love dipping them in chocolate ganache. Summer time is so fun and s’mores are one of my fav summer flavors!! These donuts would be so fun!!!
I’m ALL about making things from scratch, BUT I am not against taking advantage of the simplicity of cake mixes every once in awhile. This recipe uses a cake mix as the base of the donuts so it is super simple to make but still so fun.
Whether you’re a professional baker or have never made anything in your life, you can for sure make these. They would be perfect for a summer party to impress your friends, or for a summer cookout dessert, or even just as a snack to fulfill that late night sweet tooth. Who would say no to donuts? Am I right?!

LET’S GET STARTED:
Chocolate S’mores Cake Donuts
Ingredients
For Donuts:
- 1 chocolate cake mix
- eggs
- oil
- water
For Chocolate Ganache:
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
Toppings:
- graham crackers
- mini marshmallows
Instructions
For Chocolate donuts:
- Pre-heat your oven to 350° and grease your donut mold pans.
- In a large bowl add your cake mix, eggs, oil and water as directed on the back of the box. Whisk into well combined.
- Transfer your batter into a piping bag (you can also use a spoon or a spouted measuring glass.) and pour into your donut molds. Be careful to not over fill them. Halfway should be good.
- Bake in the oven at 350° for 15-20 minutes until fully cooked. A butter knife or toothpick should come out clean. Remove from oven and let cool.
For Chocolate Ganache:
- In a glass measuring cup, heat your heavy whipping cream for about 1 minute in the microwave. Add in your chocolate chips and let set in the heavy cream for five minutes.
- Whisk it up until smooth. If the ganache is too thin, add more chocolate and if its too thick add a little bit of cream (about 1 tsp) at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
Assemble:
- To assemble your donuts, dip them into your chocolate ganache one at a time and place on a wire rack.
- Top with toasted mini marshmallows and crushed graham crackers.
