Think like a chocolate milkshake and a chocolate covered cherry but in mousse form. Cherries and chocolate are a super underrated flavor combination in my opinion. The cherries are sweet and tart and juicy while being paired with rich creamy chocolate, truly is a match made in heaven.
This chocolate cherry mousse recipe would be perfect for spring, summer, and honestly any day. It could definitely be an amazing dessert for holidays like Valentine’s Day, the 4th of July or Christmas. It’s such a fun one to prepare for parties because you can make them in little glasses or cups.

A lot of mousse recipes take egg whites that are whipped up to make it creamy, but I like to just used heavy cream to get those thick peaks so this recipe is a completely egg free chocolate mousse recipe.
I also love how the texture of this recipe is thick and so creamy. Honestly anything with chocolate is soooo good and tasty.

I love creating a list of all the ingredients you will need to make my recipe on the post before the recipe. That way you can clearly see everything you’ll need and what you may need to go grab at the store to make them.
What You’ll Need:
- heavy whipping cream
- powdered sugar
- vanilla extract or bean paste
- heavy whipping cream
- chocolate chips
- fresh cherries
All the ingredients are very simple and easy to find at your local grocery store OR already in your kitchen ready to go. They are simple ingredients but together make such a delicious fun recipe and I’m so excited for you to try them out.
Let’s Get Started!!

Chocolate Cherry Mousse
Ingredients
Method
- In a large glass bowl add your chocolate chips. Heat up ¾ cup of your heavy whipping cream and pour over your chocolate chips. Let set for a few minutes before stirring until well combined.
- To make your whipped cream, whip up your additional 2 cups of cold heavy whipping cream using an electric hand mixer, stand mixer or milk frother, until it starts to thicken.
- Add your vanilla and powdered sugar and beat until it’s thick and stiff. Be careful not to overmix as this could curdle your cream (and start the buttering process)
- Add half of your whipped cream into your chocolate ganache and fold gently until combined.
- To assemble, add your chocolate mixture and whipped cream in layers to your serving cups or bowl and top each one with two half cherries and one whole. Continue until your mixtures are all divided out.
- Serve, share and enjoy!!
