Halloween Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars are the perfect fun and easy kid friendly halloween treat. They’re soft, chewy and the best texture. With pools of dark chocolate and festive m&ms and sprinkles, this fun fall cookie bar recipe is such a crowd pleaser. They’re ooey gooey and a simple halloween dessert recipe to make.
Browning the butter, adding TONs of chocolate and M&ms and adding a sprinkle of flaky sea salt over the top is what sends these cookies over the edge and what makes you want to come back for more. They’re so good and flavorful.

These Chocolate Chip Cookie bars are so easy and fun to make. You make a simple chocolate chip cookie dough with brown butter and then of course add some festive sprinkles and m&ms to make them themed.
Then instead of rolling them into cookies, you press them into a baking dish lined with parchment paper making it even easier!! Then you cut these cookies into bars (like you brownies!!) share and enjoy!! These would be so easy to bring along with you to share, because they are in bar form.

What should I make these for?
Since these halloween cookie bars are in bar form and easy to transfer and bring along with you, they would honestly be good for any event. You could bring them to a fall party, family get together or even to share at work or school. They would also be perfect to share with friends and neighbors.
You could also make these chocolate chunk cookie bars with your kids for a fun fall activity or a cute date night in with your love or best friends. It’s the perfect weeknight indulgence when you are in need of a sweet treat.

What is Brown Butter & How Do You Make It?
Basically brown butter is just butter that’s been cooked on the stove. It foams up and the milk solids caramelize giving it it’s delicious deep nutty flavor. It takes a few quick minutes on the stove and the smell is like no other. Let’s just say it’s amazing and it’s a GAME CHANGER when baking. It’s hard to go back once you make it a few times and super simple to make so the extra step is optional but 100% worth it.
You can still make this recipe without using brown butter it just won’t have the nutty flavor but will still be delicious. If you also want the texture to be the same, I would use melted butter because the consistency of brown butter and melted will be the most similar.
Be careful not to walk away as it could burn or overflow when it foams. I have a quick video on how to make brown butter- HERE!! It takes just a few minutes to make but this video is a visual way to see if that helps you out!!
