Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies are one of my absolute favorite desserts ever. They are warm, chocolatey, easy to make, quick to make and have so much flavor. I CAN’T WAIT for you guys to try these!! They are truly on of my favorite recipes.
The Easter candy elevates these even more. If you have leftover Easter candy, then you should totally make these!! I love using candy as mixes ins for cookie so whatever chocolate candy you have leftover should work.
I used Easter colored M&Ms, Peanut butter egg M&Ms, Cadbury mini chocolate eggs, Reese’s eggs and then of course using chocolate chips, dark chocolate, mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips would all be so good as well. The more the better.
Easter is one of my favorite holidays. I love celebrating the resurrection of my savior Jesus, not only on Easter but everyday. God so loved us all that He sent His one and only son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. ANYONE who calls on His name and believes in their heart he rose from the grave, will be saved!!
Growing up, we would always have Easter egg hunts and do something fun for Easter as a family. I love any opportunity to celebrate, be with family and gather. AND of course baking for family gatherings is a must. That’s why I love creating fun recipes for each holiday!!
What is Brown Butter & How Do You Make It?
Basically brown butter is just butter that’s been cooked on the stove. It foams up and the milk solids caramelize giving it it’s delicious deep nutty flavor. It takes a few quick minutes on the stove and the smell is like no other. Let’s just say it’s amazing and it’s a GAME CHANGER when baking. It’s hard to go back once you make it a few times and super simple to make so the extra step is optional but 100% worth it.
You can still make this recipe without using brown butter it just won’t have the nutty flavor but will still be delicious. If you also want the texture to be the same, I would use melted butter because the consistency of brown butter and melted will be the most similar.
I have a quick video on how to make brown butter- HERE!! It takes just a few minutes to make but this video is a visual way to see if that helps you out!!
I like making a list of all the ingredients you’ll need to make my recipes so that way you can easily see what you’ll need & what you already have!! Screenshot this list and once you have everything, you’re ready to go!! All these ingredients are pretty simple & easy to find. You probably already have most of them at home already in your kitchen!!

Let’s Get Started!!
Easter Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter 2 sticks unsalted, browned
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla bean paste or extract
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour spooned & leveled
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup dark chocolate chopped
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup Easter m&ms
- 1/2 cup mini Cadbury eggs crushed
- 1/2 cup peanut butter eggs crushed
- flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a sauce pan over medium high heat, add your butter and let melt. Once it’s melted, keep it on the heat and let it cook for 5-10 minutes until it foams up and then turns a amber brown color. Transfer into a glass measuring cup and let cool.
- In a large bowl add your browned butter, brown sugar, and sugar. Whisk it up until it’s well combined.
- Add your eggs and vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract) and stir again.
- Your mixture should be light and fluffy in texture.
- Next, add your dry ingredients. This includes your all purpose flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Stir until just combined.
- Add your chopped dark chocolate, mini chocolate chips and any Easter Candy you have. I used Easter M&Ms, Cadbury mini eggs and more!! (make sure to reserve some for tops). Stir them in until just combined.
- Scoop your cookie dough into 1-2 inch balls and place on your baking sheets lined with parchment paper a few inches apart (to prevent some spreading into each other). Top with extra chocolate.
- Bake at 350°F for 8-10 minutes, until edges are golden brown. If you want soft and gooey cookies be sure to take them out before fully set, they will continue to cook slightly on the pan.
- Remove from oven. tap your pan down if they didn’t spread enough. Using a round cookie cutter or glass, scoot around your cookies to make them all round and the same size. This also helps if they spread too much.
- Add a pinch of flaky sea salt and let cool.
- Share and enjoy!!
